This is an easy way to add sashing to a quilt block and have them all line up without all the marking and sewing of long sections. Jenny Doan does a nice, longer, video on how to make the Falling Charms quilt but I like this quick illustration.
When adding sashing just keep adding to the same sides (left and bottom) of the quilt block (if directional), then you only need to add a strip to the top and side to finish. I swear this is soooo much easier and there is less stretching and weight on the fabrics. Just try it!
A nice video on squaring up a block show by National Quilters Circle. They are offering a $1 special right now and have tons of free videos as well. They do a nice job teaching the basics and more. This video is on squaring up blocks.
This Hey Jude Quilt was made by Michelle. The pattern is called Hey Jude. The quilting pattern is Oak Dream, thread is charcoal grey and batting is Hobbs 80/20. This is the perfect quilt for a man. Nice quilt
Donna made this cute baby quilt for new baby London. I love the blocks in this and she found a really sweet fabric for the back. The quilting design is Wrought Iron, Hobbs 80/20 batting and Variegated thread. Cute!
FYI I’m no longer going to have a house phone. Yes, I was the last dinosaur on my block. You will now be able to reach me at 248-622-3666. You can text or call me regarding quilting at this number. Oh and goodbye Xfinity cable tv. It feels so freeing. Now I just need to carry my cell phone and keep it charged up. So if you miss me please leave me a message.
