Catching up

Today I’m working to catch up for an unplanned day off. The stomach bug bit me & so if you are wondering when I will call with something finished please give me an additional day & you’ll be hearing from me.

Thanks for your patience.

Baby Quilts

Here are Mary Ann’s 3 baby quilts.

This Bunny quilt has ruffle strips mixed in. Her backing is Cuddle fabric. It’s quilted with wavy & straight lines. The batting is Hobbs 80/20 and the thread is a light green.

The next two quilts are the same pattern with different fabrics & backings. The quilting design is Daisies Galore by Irene Steele.  Both have Hobbs 80/20 batting. The first has yellow backing & the second has a white back.

Red Work Quilt

This quilt was a labor of love. Penny had to spend some down time recovering from surgery and decided to do some Red Work embroidery to stay busy.  This is just the cutest retro embroidery quilt.  She chose an allover design called Flowering Vine, white thread & White Hobbs 80/20 batting.  Her backing is a solid white fabric.  This is a charming quilt.

Bear Quilts

These are Penny’s Bear quilts. The first had a cute panel in the center, surrounded by a blue & then red border. The quilting design is Baseball & Bats by Cyndi Hermann, blue thread, & Hobbs 80/20 white batting. The backing fabric is White Minky, soft & snuggly.

The next quilt is a bundle of bears. The quilting design is Bubble Meander, blue thread & White Hobbs 80/20 batting.  The backing fabric is a pale yellow flannel. This one is also really snuggly.

Squares Quilt

I’m working on two twin quilts for Beth. She used some really cute prints for the squares & muslin surrounding them. The quilt design is Square Dance by Ann Bright. The thread is a pale lime, and batting is Legacy.

I’ll be working on the second quilt today. Oh & check out her cool pieced backing. Its a great use of fabrics.

Paris Quilt

Shirley made this cool Paris Quilt. The small black strips are flanges. They are basted down so I could quilt over them.  She will remove the basting & then the flanges will be visible.

The quilting design on this is called Wrought Iron, the batting is Hobbs 80/20 & the thread is a brown grey color.  Shirley made a pieced back using some black and panel pieces. I think she will really enjoy using both sides of the quilt.

Best Quilt Shop Stop on way to Chicago

On the way to Chicago we hit 4 shops and on the way home another 2. The best of the lot was a fairly new shop just south of the city called Quilters Trunk http://www.thequilterstrunk.com.

The staff was so nice. We were greeted with an offer to browse around and have a cuppa Joe while there, note they even had a bowl of Hershey’s Kisses.  They know exactly what quilters want!  The staff there is great!

They have a bright cheery shop full of new fabrics and sewing machines, Bernina and Baby Lock. I took home a lot of fabric and a handful of photos to share with you. It’s easy to locate and has their own parking! Bonus!  I loved their class space in the back of the shop. They are located just off the Loop, west of North 57. It was easy to get to & I’ll definitely go back!
