Threads @ Troy Historical Village & Gardens

Today I volunteered working at theTroy Historical Village white gloving for the quilts on display. I had never been to the Village and it was a great experience. They’ve put a lot of work into this program and its worth the trip to go see the village and the quilts that they are displaying all around in the buildings.  Here are a few photos I took today while there. I’ll try to share those that I recognize. There are many more & I’m just showing a few.  Several guilds participated and shared their quilts for this event.

In the General Store:

They will also be having an interactive play on the weekend. Also there will be some workshops and demonstrations that are included with your entry.

If you enjoy seeing lovely gardens there are lots of things in bloom there too.  Here are some of the flowers between buildings.

Grab a friend & come to check out the Event.  It’s easy to find at the NE corner of Livernois & Wattles. This will be going on for the next 2 weeks. Check the date & time before heading out.

Guy Quilt, Canadian Theme

This is a gift quilt for a man from Canada that now lives in the states.  There are a lot of sports novelty prints used and some team prints.  This is quilted with a design called Maple Syrup, which has a nice Maple leaf and a swirl. The thread is white, and back is a solid red fabric with some large maple leaf pieced blocks near the 4 corners.

Scheduling Appointments for August

I’m back from vacation. If you’d like to set an appointment to drop off a quilt call now. I will be in and out so please leave a message if I don’t pick right up and I’ll give you a call back as soon as I get it.

I appreciate my clients that were so good about allowing me to take some time off and delayed dropping off a quilt.

The good news is I will have a short turn around to start off in August.

Thank you!!

Time Off & Prepare ahead for Christmas

I’m taking some time off for the month of July. I’ll be back to work Aug 1 and will have a clean slate so I can gear up for holiday quilting.

If you have gift quilts for Christmas that you want quilted, this August would be a good time to get them to me.  Beat the rush and plan ahead. Please don’t wait to the last minute and expect a fast turn around. Of course I will do the best to complete quilts timely but I often cut off before Thanksgiving and hate having to turn people away because they didn’t plan ahead.  I love quilting for others and want you to get your quilts in time to bind.

Ok, I’m off the soap box now ;).

Thank you to my clients that allow me to work from home and understand that I need a break sometimes too.

See you in August!!

Blooming 9 Patch

Liz made this beautiful blooming 9 patch quilt. I took extra photos of the rich dark prints. The backing shows the quilting design well. The quilting design is Falling Leaves, bronze thread & Quilters Dream batting. She did a lovely job piecing this quilt.

Jelly Roll JIve

Jelly Roll Jive is a pattern from a quilting cruise workshop Martha took with instructor Peggy Martin. It’s made with Jelly Roll Strips with 4 strips sewn together lengthwise. Then the strip sets are cut into triangles and sewn into squares. If you look close at the blocks they are mirror images. The quilt is a beauty with all the jewel tone batik fabrics. The quilting design is Luna by Ann Bright, the batting is Hobbs 80/20 and Martha chose a deep purple color thread.

Good Night Irene Quilt

This is a Missouri Star Quilt pattern called Good Night Irene https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/37260/msqc/msqc/goodnight-irene-quilt-pattern-by-msqc. Pam pieced this cute quilt using the video instructions from Missouri Star Quilting.  The pattern uses 4 charm packs of prints and 4 charm packs of solids. She designed the border using some coordinating fabrics. The quilting design is Circles, the batting is Hobbs 80/20 & she chose a red thread that goes well with both the front & back of her quilt. The backing fabric is from Fabric.com.  The backing fabric is the softest fabric I’ve felt in a long time. I hope to make this quilt soon too. I love it!

Another easy but cool free pattern

Looking for something to do during this rainy weather?  Going through my email today & found this cool looking easy quilt pattern.

I get the QuiltHome.com email and this quilt was featured today. They’re offering 25% off on the same fabrics if you want to make this exact quilt & free shipping.

I’m sharing this with you not only because it’s a great deal but because it’s a great pattern for using up your stash. The pieces are large so choose your fabrics wisely and make sure that they look great together. I like how they pair up the larger bold prints with the smaller, muted ones.
