This is one of Beth’s two twin Chinese Coin quilts. The other is identical so I’m posting one set of pics. The quilting design is Spring Loaded, the batting is Legacy and she chose a green thread to match.
The pieced backing was too pretty to not share.
Connie’s Corners Quilt is a beauty! A lot of work, a lot of love & a lot of piecing went into this quilt. Connie chose Silver Blue thread, Quilters Dream Select Batting and Paisley Cypress allover design.
Here are some photos of Donna’s quilt. This is the first one. The second is still being quilted. Design is Petra, Grey thread & Hobbs 80/20 batting. The last photo is the cool pieced back side of the quilt. These quilts look even better in person.
Every once in a while when I’m trying to get a quilt finished and delivered, I forget to take a photo of the quilt. That’s what happened with MaryAnn’s quilt. It was beautiful and I have another to quilt for her so I”ll try to remember to photo the next one
Here is a photo of Donna’s quilt that is stitching right now. The quilting design is called Petra. She has a pair of twin quilts that are identical. I think this design is looking great on it. The thread is charcoal grey, and the batting is Hobbs 80/20.
On the Homefront, it is cold, 18 F, but sunny today. I’ve been battling a sinus infection. I thought I was winning the battle but it’s turning ugly on me. I might need a little help after all darn it. I’ve been lucky this year & no colds or flu so far. Knock on wood, or as my Aunt Thelma used to say, “you can knock on wood but I’m going to thank God”. She’s was a kind spirit that is missed.
Here is something I worked on Sat. It’s a mystery with an online group of Canadian quilters called Strip Sensation Satellite Mystery Quilt. The steps were given over FB live video. It was fun & I have maybe half of it completed. I need to decide which block layout to put together. Here are the two possibilities so far. I still have some cutting and piecing to do. It was a lot of fun. The Canadian Quilt Militia is a really fun group to play with.
Quilting Update….. Currently working on MaryAnn’s quilt and getting ready to load Donna’s next. Sorry no pics yet but they are not far off, maybe tomorrow.
(I would have Martha’s quilt next but since she’s in AZ enjoying the warm weather. She gets a pass until it’s closer to her return time.) 😉
I will share a cute gift I received over the holiday. Its a scented was bowl and stand. I’ve never seen anything like it before, well except for a candle. This is giving my studio a beautiful fragrance. Since I have a bird I have to be very careful & cannot burn candles or use defusers for oils. This is doing the trick nicely & don’t you agree it’s nicer to look at than a plug in?? Love it!! Pretty & practical. Thanks Connie!
This is Coleens quilt American Pie. It’s a mix of Aunt Gracie and 30’s prints. The quilting design is Champaign Bubbles, blue thread & Legacy Batting. This is a really fun quilt.
Cathy’s Transparency quilt a Modern Quilter pattern. The quilting design is Two Simple by Crystal Smythe.
This is Cathy’s One Block Wonder. This started with a really cool looking stone print fabric. The fabric is on the border. The resulting blocks come from layering the fabric matching the design repeat prints and then cutting strips, then triangles and turning them to create hex shaped blocks. These are really fun to make and layout at the end can really change the look of the quilt.
Cathy chose a chocolate brown wide backing. The quilting design is Fluid Meander by Kristyn Hoftyzer, the batting is Hobbs 80/20, the thread is a taupe/grey.

This is a double fold binding. It has already been attached to the front of the quilt. If you use a 2.5″ binding then trim from where it is stitched leaving 3/8″. If your binding is 2.25″ then leave 1/4″ seam allowance. This should give a fairly even amount of binding on both sides of the quilt.
The first photo shows the top side of the quilt with the binding sewn and folded at the corner.
The next photo shows the back of the quilt with the binding folded towards the back. It will bend upward a bit right at the corner.
Take one side of the binding and fold down and pin or attach binding clips to hold in place. The binding needs to lay flat right to the other edge of the quilt back. You can hand stitch this in place or go to the next step. The important thing to note is keeping that first folded edge all the way up into the opposite edge of the quilt back. Holding that in place you will fold the left side binding down over it and pin or clamp into place.
In the last photo I’ve got my scissors showing how the binding beneath has to be tucked all the way up under the edge that is folded over the top. Pin in place and hand stitch down. If the corner lays flatter with the opposite side tucked under go ahead and do it that way! Easy Peasy!!
This is a new pattern by Coleen Merte of Northwater Quilts. The fabric is called Love Song by Clothworks. The pattern is available at Northwater Quilts (link above or in the links section to the right) or EE Schenck distributors.
The hearts look like they are appliqué but are really sections from a panel. This would be a great pattern for those large scenes or prints you just don’t want to cut up. The pattern offers difference sizes to suit different panel choices. The quilting is musical notes, taupe thread and Legacy batting.
Quilted Impressions
